Christmas in Calpe 23rd - 27th December 2023

New for this year. Christmas in Calpe. Staying at the 4star Diamante beach Hotel. You will be on a full board basis with wine and water included at mealtimes and there will be a special gala meal on Christmas Day 

The Diamante Beach Hotel is a large hotel, very close to the beach and famous Peñon D´Ifach rock and has 3 swimming pools, sun terraces, cafe, piano bar, main bar, a spa ( payable locally ) and a buffet style restaurant with show cooking every evening. The hotel has daily entertainment. 

Calpe is a very popular seaside resort and is famous for its rock. The Peñon D´Ifach, many years ago, in the 13th century had a small village directly below. the main benefit being the high visibility of the surrounding area. The settlement only lasted about 60 years, as during the war with Castile the village was destroyed. Still to this day archaeologists are excavating the village to learn even more about its history, the inhabitants and its importance. Apparently the rock was deemed useless at the end of the 19th century and so it was sold. the new owner decided to use dynamite to blow a hole in the rock to gain better access. This is now the actual tunnel that gives many a walker access to the top of the rock and the incredible views it affords.

Calpe also has many a beautiful, long beach to relax on, a fantastic daily fish auction, fabulous coves, water sports and a charming old town. Calpe old town and its walls was built by ancient populations who were wanting to protect themselves and their neighbours  from pirate attacks. More about Calpes history can be learned at the Calpe Museum of History and Archeology. A little tourist train is also available in Calpe to take you around the town and see all the main landmarks. At this time of year the local Christmas market will also still be in place for you to enjoy the holiday spirit !!!!
