Elche - Night Of Fire Thursday 13th August 2026

Fabulous fun. Elche, the palm tree capital explodes in a dramatic night of fire.

There is no part of the city untouched by this massive fireworks display. You find yourself in the centre  of thousands of flashing lights as fireworks go off every minute all over the city for almost an hour. The effect is stunning.

Before the display the city buzzes with anticipation. Every cafe is filled, and excited people fill the streets, as they wait for the fireworks to start. 

After 23:00 the rockets and fireworks cease and the lights of the city are turned off and the people of Elche wait in silence for the culminating moment of the night, while in the background you can hear the most significant fragment of the Misteri de Elche “the Gloria Patri”. Amidst the utter darkness of the night, you will see the palm of the Virgin, a huge palm represented by white light which is launched from the Basilica of Santa Maria, and which for some seconds, lights up the skies, above the city of Elche magnificently.
