The 5th Jan is the last big evening of the seasonal celebrations which fill Spain with excitement. The Three Kings arrive in Cartagena by catamaran to disperse their magic on all who line the streets eager to see them. Typically in Spain it isnt Santa who brings the good children presents its the Three Kings, whose generosity is put to the test on Jan 6th, the day of Epiphany. If the children have been godd then they will come , arms filled with presents to hand out.
In Cartagena the procession is a great, loud, colourful affair with lots of different floats, bans, music and excited children.
During the procession lots of sweets and toys are thrown into the crowd for the adults and children alike. So remember to take a carrier bag so you can stuff it full of delights
This is an evening event with processions usually starting around 18:30 but of course timings will always be confirmed nearer to the day.
